What got you into the topic of discussing weather?
For me I was terrified of storms up until I was about 13. We were running to the basement during a tornado warning at night. I happened to turn and look towards the flatlands behind us right when lightning struck, and I saw the tornado heading our way. It was like a switch was flipped. I fell in love with severe weather after that.
Luckily, the tornado weakened quickly and only damaged a little of the crops.
I became a storm spotter at 17 and still do it when I can. I'm also in my second year as a CoCoRaHS observer. I really enjoy doing that, as my county needs it. I locally chase storms when it's safe to do so (and never at night), but I have chased in other states in the past, and nothing like all the pros are doing today.
I have a Master's degree that concentrates partially on emergency management. I do a little bit of that at my place of work.
How about you all? What's your weather story? I'd love to hear it!
