What’s the Weirdest Weather Day You Can Remember?

For me, it had been about 30 years ago.

It was shorts weather Halloween day and by nightfall, it was snowing.

I seem to remember a few days like that. Powerful cold fronts, I reckon.

How about you all?

I remember driving in a thunder snow squall a lot of years ago. Also another drive where the precipitation type kept changing back and forth between snow/sleet and rain.

It wasn't a one day event, but worst winter season I remember was 77-78 here in South Central Illinois. We had a major ice storm followed by blizzard conditions. There was a fairly thick ice accumulation and then a cold front moved through with high winds and much colder temperatures. Power poles were snapped off all over. A second low pressure system followed on the heels of the first, but with the colder temperatures in place it produced snow. We were without power for 3 days here in town, but some people out in the country were out for over two weeks. Luckily we had a gas space heater in one room that would work without electricity. It wasn't very warm, but we got by. School was out for a long time. That whole Winter had multiple snow storms and prolonged cold.
